About Our Air-to-Air Heat Pump Grant Hub

Who we are, in one honest paragraph

We are an independent UK information and installer-matching hub built around a single, narrow subject: the air-to-air heat pump grant. We are not an installer, we do not fit units, and we do not sell a brand of kit. Our job is to tell you the truth about the grant as it actually stands, work out whether you genuinely qualify, and — only if you do — connect you with an MCS-certified air-to-air installer. That is the whole of it.

Air-to-air heat pumps became eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme at a flat £2,500 in England and Wales, for residential properties, in force from 28 April 2026 (SI 2026/390) and running to 2030, as at July 2026. That is the first time UK government funding has ever reached air-conditioning-style heating. It is a genuinely useful development, and almost nobody online describes it correctly.

Why this hub exists

Search the phrase yourself and you will see the problem. The gov.uk pages are accurate but generic, written to cover every heat pump at once. Installer blogs are often months out of date, still telling you the grant "launches in 2027" when it has been live since April 2026. Energy suppliers publish confident guides that quietly mean the £7,500 grant — which is for air-to-water and ground-source, not air-to-air. So a homeowner researching a small, wall-mounted split system ends up with the wrong figure, the wrong system in mind, and a quote that does not match what they read.

We built this hub because that gap costs people money and time. Someone in an all-electric flat who could genuinely benefit talks themselves out of it after reading a stale "no grant for air-to-air" post. Someone chasing the £7,500 figure is quietly disappointed when the real air-to-air grant turns out to be £2,500. Neither of them was badly served by a lack of information — they were served too much of the wrong information. We exist to give the single, dated, sourced version instead.

What you will often read, versus the verified position

What you will often read onlineThe verified position (as at July 2026)
"£7,500 air-to-air grant"£2,500 flat under BUS. The £7,500 is for air-to-water and ground-source only (gov.uk).
"The grant launches in 2027"Live since 28 April 2026 (SI 2026/390).
"Air-to-air gets no funding"Eligible for the £2,500 BUS grant and for 0% VAT to 31 March 2027 (HMRC Notice 708/6).
"You must be replacing direct electric heating only"gov.uk lists "oil, gas, electric or LPG". Air-to-air is best suited to electric-heated homes, not legally restricted to them.

What we actually do

Three things, and we try to do them plainly.

  • We state the real position with dated sources. Every grant, tax and price figure on this site is stamped "as at July 2026" and, where it matters, linked to the primary source — gov.uk, Ofgem, HMRC or MCS. If the rules move, the date tells you whether what you are reading is still current.
  • We check eligibility honestly, before anyone quotes you. The grant requires an MCS-certified installer and an MCS-certified product, and the unit must replace existing fossil-fuel or electric heating — not sit alongside a boiler you keep. It is one grant per property, England and Wales, residential only. If your situation does not meet those tests, we would rather tell you now than let an installer discover it later.
  • We connect genuinely-eligible homeowners with MCS-certified installers. We match; we do not fit. The installer you speak to holds the certification and issues the quote with the £2,500 deducted upfront.

The caveat we lead with, not bury

Here is the part competitors leave out. The grant is law, but MCS air-to-air certification is still rolling out through 2026. Certification bodies are still gaining UKAS accreditation to certify air-to-air installers, an installer's technical supervisor needs the relevant RACHP Level 3 qualification, and MCS has given no fixed date, describing timescales as "varying", as at July 2026. In plain terms: MCS-certified air-to-air installers are still scarce in mid-2026, and with no MCS-certified job there is no grant. The funding is real; it is simply not yet as readily claimable as the headlines suggest. We carry that caveat wherever we present the grant as available, because pretending otherwise would waste your afternoon.

What we will never do

We do not publish fabricated review scores, invented star ratings or made-up installation counts. This is an information hub, not a shopfront, and there is no honest way for us to show ratings for work we did not do. We will not tell you the grant is "free money", will not quote you the £7,500 figure that does not apply to air-to-air, and will not pressure you with fake deadlines. We would rather disqualify you fairly than sign you up wrongly. If you want cooling and intend to keep your gas boiler, if you are in Scotland or Northern Ireland where BUS does not run, or if you are trying to take a whole off-gas house off oil and would do better on air-to-water, we will say so — and often that means telling you this grant is not for you.

How to use this hub

Start with the eligibility questions, not the sales pages. Read the position for your own situation — all-electric home, storage heaters, a flat, a park home, an off-gas replacement — and check it against the dated figures. If you qualify, use us to reach an MCS-certified air-to-air installer and get a quote with the grant already taken off. If you do not qualify, you will at least leave knowing exactly why, with the sources to back it up. That is the entire promise: the right figure, the right system, and an honest answer about whether it is genuinely yours to claim.

FAQS

Common questions

Are you an installer, or do you sell air-to-air heat pumps?

Neither. We are an independent information and installer-matching hub. We do not fit units and we do not sell a brand of kit. We publish the verified position on the air-to-air heat pump grant, check your eligibility honestly, and connect genuinely-eligible homeowners with MCS-certified air-to-air installers who issue the actual quote.

Why do your figures differ from other sites I have read?

Because many guides are out of date or describe the wrong grant. The air-to-air grant is a flat £2,500 under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, live since 28 April 2026 (SI 2026/390), as at July 2026. The £7,500 you may have seen is for air-to-water and ground-source, not air-to-air. Every figure here is dated and linked to gov.uk, Ofgem, HMRC or MCS.

Do you show customer reviews or ratings?

No. As an information hub we did not carry out any installations, so there is no honest way for us to display review scores, star ratings or install counts, and we will not invent them. What we offer instead is accuracy: dated facts, primary-source links, and a candid eligibility check before you speak to any installer.
